Carice TC2 | New Atlas

Carice TC2, a Dutch-made electric two-seater convertible, combines retro aesthetics with modern tech. Produced by Dutch EV manufacturer Carice, it draws inspiration from the Porsche 356 and Nissan Figaro. Weighing as little as 590 kg, it offers standard and long-range battery options with claimed ranges of 200 and 300 km. The electric motor reaches a top speed of 120 km/h. Priced from €44,500, the limited-run production is sold out, with the next batch available in a few months.

N Vision 74 and RN22e | Car Expert

Hyundai plans to release a hydrogen-powered sports car in 2026, based on the N Vision 74 concept. The 596kW coupe is set to debut in H1 2026, with a limited run of 100 units. Seventy cars will be publicly available, while 30 are reserved for racing. The move aligns with Hyundai's commitment to hydrogen technology.

Volkswagen plans to launch a fully electric version of the GTI in 2026, featuring a new "GTI" logo with a lightning bolt. The electric GTI is expected to coexist with the gasoline-powered version for several years. Abarth introduces the F595C, a special edition of the 500e convertible with a turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline engine, making 162 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. The limited edition F595C, available in left- and right-hand drive, has Lexus-like vertically stacked exhaust tips and is priced at about $33,200.

For the third consecutive year, Ford leads US automakers in recalls, with 54 in 2023 (a 21% decrease from 2022). The largest recall affected 1.3 million Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The company acknowledges improvements but expects it will take years to resolve quality issues. Honda also recently surpassed Tesla with a recall affecting 2.5 million vehicles due to defective fuel pumps.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking systems were less effective at preventing accidents with motorcycles (41%) and trucks (38%) compared to regular passenger vehicles (53%). The study, involving over 160,000 accidents, highlights the challenge of adapting these systems for larger and smaller vehicles.
