The 2024 Polestar 2 offers increased range, efficiency, and performance while reducing its carbon footprint. Priced from $93,990, it boasts improvements in range, efficiency, and charging speed due to hardware upgrades, including larger batteries and new motors. The Long range Single motor version now offers a certified range of up to 655 km WLTP. New electric motors and inverters increase efficiency and performance, with rear-wheel drive for single-motor versions. In Q3 2023, Lucid Motors reported a loss of over $430,000 per vehicle sold, despite delivering 1,456 cars. The company's net losses surged to nearly $630.9 million, up $100 million from the previous year. Lucid produced 1,550 electric vehicles in the same period, reducing its annual production target from 10,000-14,000 to 8,000-8,500 units. However, it maintained a liquidity position of $5.45 billion, supporting the launch of its Gravity SUV and unveiling new vehicle variants.

General Motors (GM) and Niron Magnetics have formed a joint venture to develop electric motor magnets without rare earth materials, reducing reliance on China's supply. These magnets are crucial for electric vehicle (EV) motors and can enhance EV production and supply chain security. Niron claims to produce high-performance magnets from iron nitride, making them more affordable and eco-friendly. The partnership aims to use this technology in future GM EVs. GM is investing an undisclosed amount, part of a $33 million funding round that includes Stellantis Ventures and Volvo Car Tech Fund.

iOS 17.1.1 has been released to resolve an issue where using wireless charging pads in certain BMW cars disabled iPhone NFC functionality, causing problems with Apple Pay and digital car keys. The software update aims to restore NFC services and prevent further glitches. This fix comes after concerns that BMW's charging hardware was overheating the iPhone 15 series. While wireless charging can be inefficient, especially in cars, this update should address the problem for iPhone users driving BMW or Toyota GR Supra vehicles.
