VinFast | Kelly Blue Book

VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, may sell its VF 3 2-door SUV in the U.S. for as low as $13,500 after government tax credits. The company is building a dealership network in America and plans to open showrooms in Southern California. However, it's advised to wait and see how VinFast develops as an automaker and addresses issues with its vehicles before making a decision.

Despite earlier efforts to weaken the EU's 2035 ban on internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, the ban appears to have support. Greenpeace suggests moving it to 2028, but there's no momentum for a delay. While there's some resistance, most automakers are aligning with the transition to electric vehicles. In the UK, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak moved the 2030 ICE ban to 2035, facing criticism. The Labour Party could move it back to 2030 if they win the general election. Efforts to delay ICE bans could increase, but significant EV investments suggest the bans are likely to stay.

A jury has found Tesla not at fault in a lawsuit over a 2019 wrongful death involving a Model 3. The lawsuit alleged that Autopilot caused the crash, but Tesla argued that the driver was responsible for driving when Autopilot was turned on. After four days of deliberations, the jury ruled in favor of Tesla. This is the first resolved lawsuit involving a death related to Autopilot. Tesla's autonomous systems are "level 2," and drivers are responsible for the vehicle's operation. Tesla faces several lawsuits over injuries and deaths related to Autopilot or Full Self-Driving.

This article discusses Toyota's "Manual BEV concept," which aims to make electric vehicles (EVs) more engaging for drivers by simulating the experience of a manual transmission. The concept involves a joystick and pedal connected to software, providing a hands-on driving experience for EVs. The article details the hardware and software components of this concept, highlighting its potential to enhance the fun and engagement of driving electric cars.

Economist Steve Moore draws parallels between the skepticism surrounding electric vehicles (EVs) and the historical failure of Ford's Edsel model in the 1950s. He expresses concern that the success of EVs depends on consumer demand and highlights the challenges faced by automakers, such as Ford and General Motors, in transitioning to EVs, citing significant losses per EV. Moore suggests that government incentives and mandates may not be enough to drive EV adoption, and hybrid vehicles could be a more appealing option for consumers.
