The top-tier "Cyberbeast" is priced at $99,990 with an estimated 320 miles of range. A fully accessorized top-trim Cybertruck costs $126,860, surpassing the Hummer EV. Tesla also introduced a $1,500 kids' version with a max speed of 10mph. The truck features bi-directional charging and a "Powershare" capability, acting as a mobile generator. The delivery event showcased the truck's durability and performance, including a 2.6-second 0-60mph time. Elon Musk also teased a "Range Extender" option claiming over 470 miles of range.

2025 Volvo EX90 | Forbes

The 2025 Volvo EX90, priced from mid-$70,000 to mid-$80,000, is an electric 3-row SUV with a minimalist cabin for 6 or 7 occupants. All-wheel drive with 402 hp or 496 hp options, and two trims—Plus and Ultra. Starts at $76,695 for Plus and $81,045 for Ultra. Features an 111 kWh battery for a 300-mile range. Safety enhancements, 14.5-inch center screen with Google's OS, and optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system. Production starts in H1 2024 in South Carolina.

Samson Switchblade | USA Today

Samson Sky's Switchblade, a flying car, completed its first flight after 14 years of design. On the ground, it reaches 125 mph; in the sky, it's planned for 190 mph. Samson Sky aims for mass production in at least two years, using a new carbon fiber manufacturing process. The Switchblade VFR Kit costs $170,000, IFR Kit is $195,000, with additional costs for training and licensing. The company received 2,300 reservations from all 50 states and 57 countries.

BYD, China's leading EV maker, achieves record November sales, surpassing Nissan. Selling over 170,000 EV units, BYD's total November sales reach 301,903 new energy vehicles, marking a 31% YoY increase. Pure EV sales constitute 56.4%, reflecting a 3% MoM increase. The BYD SEAL sports sedan is displayed during the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo on October, 2023. Amidst the competition with Tesla, BYD implements price cuts and offers subsidies for EV buyers.

Lexus and Toyota top Consumer Reports' 2023 Auto Reliability Survey, followed by Mini. Asian automakers dominate with a score of 63, Europeans score 46, and domestic brands trail at 39. The survey covers trouble areas, introducing new categories for electrified vehicles. Hybrids outperform, while plug-in hybrids present challenges. Electric cars and SUVs show average reliability scores, with electric pickup trucks ranking the lowest. Ferrari files patent for in-wheel electric motors, aiming for a simplified design to free up interior space and eliminate the need for gearboxes. The patent proposes integrating motor and wheel components, using a brushless permanent magnet synchronous AC motor. Ferrari acknowledges potential complexity and added unsprung weight but claims a suitable suspension scheme can mitigate issues.

The IIHS plans to improve vehicle safety by introducing virtual testing for neck injury protection, addressing a gap despite advancements in other areas. Seeking automaker cooperation, the IIHS aims to scan seats and conduct virtual tests in stages to evaluate protection for diverse body shapes and sizes, considering various scenarios. The goal is to enhance crash protection, starting with a multistep process that includes 15mph testing protocols and expands to more complex scenarios over time.

JD Power counters auto dealers' EV adoption concerns, noting 29.2% of consumers plan to buy an EV next. Projecting a 13% market share by 2024 and 24% by 2026, JD Power suggests building smaller, cheaper EVs for the popular compact crossover market. Addressing concerns, it emphasizes consumer education and increased EV charging infrastructure investment.

Electreon has completed North America's first wireless electric car charging road in Detroit, spanning 1.61km. The road uses inductive coupling for wireless charging through a magnetic field. Closed for testing, it aims to perfect the technology. Ford e-Transit will be used for efficiency testing. Electreon, with collaborators like Ford and Jacobs, aims to address range limitations for EV adoption.
