Regenerative braking in electric and hybrid cars boosts efficiency by capturing kinetic energy and storing it in the car's batteries, reducing energy waste compared to traditional friction brakes. It's available in all U.S. electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Some benefits include improved range, reduced brake wear, and recovered energy for auxiliary functions. However, regenerative brakes may take getting used to and are less reliable at high speeds. They are most effective in city driving and can be activated through various methods, including a paddle or the brake pedal. Overall, they enhance efficiency and extend the range of hybrid and electric vehicles.
