RUF Automobiles delivers the first SCR in America, a limited-edition $1 million car based on the Porsche 911 993 generation. With a carbon fiber body and monocoque chassis, it features a Mezger-based 4.0-liter flat-six engine generating 503 hp. Equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 200 mph. The SCR, with carbon ceramic brakes and safety cage, weighs 2,756 pounds and comes in Ivory White. Limited to 70 units, all already sold.

Kawasaki Hydrogen motorcycle | Autopian

Kawasaki unveils the prototype of its "world's first hydrogen sports bike," the Ninja H2 HySE, expected around 2030. Based on the Ninja H2 SX platform, it features a hydrogen engine developed with Toyota. The hydrogen motorcycle's design resembles an anime frame, with unique rear storage compartments for hydrogen canisters. The hydrogen engine project extends to a side-by-side and future plans for aircraft propulsion, part of Kawasaki's Group Vision 2030 initiative for greener solutions.

BYD Song L | BYD

BYD launches the Song L electric SUV in China, priced from $26,700 to $35,100. With nearly 30,000 pre-orders, it competes with Tesla's Model Y, offering five trims with a range of 341 to 411 miles. The sleek SUV boasts a "hunting dragon face," a 15.6" infotainment screen, and three powertrain options. BYD aims to challenge Tesla in the mid-size electric SUV market, as global EV sales competition intensifies.

Chevrolet ends production of the sixth-generation Camaro with no immediate successor. The last day is confirmed as December 14, leaving the Camaro's future uncertain. While Chevy hints at an electrified next chapter, details remain unclear. Sales surged 110% in Q2 2023, but the Camaro faced tough competition from the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. Stellantis and Valeo launch the first remanufactured windshield-mounted video camera, part of Stellantis' SUSTAINera REMAN range for ADAS. The camera, remanufactured at Valeo's Circular Electronics Lab in Nevers, aligns with Stellantis' carbon net-zero goal by 2038. The SUSTAINera label offers a wide range of remanufactured automotive spare parts, and Stellantis plans to expand its product portfolio in collaboration with Valeo.

Biden directs federal employees to prioritize electric cars, trains, and ride-shares for official travel, aiming to cut carbon emissions. The directive includes using EVs for rentals, urging rail travel for trips under 250 miles. Agencies must report action plans in 120 days. California plans similar guidance for state employees by June 2024.

SAE's NACS standard, backed by Ford and GM, simplifies EV charging with cheaper installations for businesses, interoperability, and street charging. Supporting 277 V, it streamlines AC charger installation and allows AC/DC through the same connector. The standardized receptacle aids street charging, and users carry their cable. It promotes EV accessibility, aiding renters and those without garages, contributing to environmental justice.
